Silicon Valley Action Network (SVAN) has picked up the mantle from Silicon Valley for Obama. Be a part of our remarkable evolving story by contributing to the introduction of a very special organization!
SVAN is a new kind of organization designed for this moment in time, when so much is at stake. Impacts of the negative economy ripple down to our local areas, the healthcare debate is loud and negative, global warming and energy costs are a huge concern, and more. To meet this challenge, we have created unique structure and purpose - while working hard to maintain the heart and soul of the SV4Obama effort.
Our mission is to enable our volunteers to efficiently and effectively impact national issues by working locally.
We have created a two-part organization: one which facilitates action by our members, and one which provides the information, best practices, and tools that will generate a more engaged membership base. Our research has shown that with limited time, and huge problems to solve, people need some additional support and insight in order to feel like they can make a difference. Our organization will provide that support, and ultimately facilitate involvement that is consistent with our core values.
SVAN needs your financial help to pursue our mission. Specifically, we'll be using our funding to:
  • Host or sponsor public forums at which issues are discussed and explained by topic experts and other thought leaders
  • Train volunteers for effective outreach and community organizing
  • Provide connections with key partners for education, service and advocacy
  • Develop, organize and host effective, respectful, targeted issue advocacy
  • Develop and integrate electronic and other virtual tools to enable the efficient participation by our volunteers, and support creative and effective communication, networking and collaboration
We've hit the ground running, thanks to generous contributions of time and money on the part of a core group of Silicon Valley for Obama veterans with substantial campaign experience. SVAN has already hosted educational forums and advocacy programs, and has solid leadership in place. But we must now expand our scope of our effort, and create a more permanent infrastructure. That's the only way we'll really bring our core values to life!
With your help, our unique organization will become a model for progressive education, service and advocacy within our local community, California and ultimately the nation. Your contribution will go directly to support SVAN activities; our staff remains all-volunteer.
