About Us

The origin of our “Silicon Valley for Obama” group can be traced back to the summer of 2007 when a small group of committed volunteers returned from Camp Obama training in San Francisco and organized an initial meeting at a private residence in Palo Alto. Subsequently, there were weekly meetings, held in various locations around Palo Alto, in an attempt to build a grass roots organization which would work not only to get Barack Obama elected president of the United States but even more importantly, to bring about the kinds of changes our country so desperately needs. With the opening of the first all volunteer-supported office in December of ’07, which quickly became the focal point for much of the organizations’ efforts, “Silicon Valley for Obama” quickly grew from tens to hundreds, and ultimately to thousands of volunteers who all contributed to the historic victory in November’s election.

Since the election, citizens all over the country, with encouragement and guidance from the administration in Washington, have begun to form action groups to continue the local grass roots efforts necessary to effect the policy changes that we want. “Silicon Valley for Obama” is one such group, a natural outgrowth of our pre-election organization. With thousands of members, smaller topical working groups are forming and meeting, with larger Town Hall gatherings also being held in an attempt to bring coherence to the efforts of all. Everyone is welcome to join in the effort, and we encourage you to stay connected through our website, sv4obama.com. Given the dire circumstances in the country, it is crucial that each of us finds some way, big or small, to contribute to the kind of change we would like to see in our nation and the world.
