SVAN Leadership Endorsements - June 8, 2010 Primary

SVAN Endorsements for June 8 Primary Election

Yes on 15

No on 16

The SVAN Leadership Team urges a Yes vote on Proposition 15 and a No vote on Proposition 16.

Yes on 15

Proposition 15 would establish a pilot program for public financing of campaigns for the Secretary of State, the office that oversees our electoral process. This is the first step in an attempt to remove the corrupting influence of money in elections. Prop 15 will change the way we finance election campaigns so politicians stay focused on governing instead of fundraising. Click here for more details.

  No on 16

Prop 16 requires a two-thirds vote for communities to choose lower cost electricity provided by nonprofit municipal utilities. In California, customers of nonprofit municipal utilities pay an average of 20–25% less for electricity than customers of for-profit electric utilities.

PG&E is disguising Prop 16 as a Taxpayer Right to Vote legislation. Don't be fooled and read all the fine print. In fact, Prop 16 is the worst kind of special interest proposition, paid for by a single corporation to benefit a single corporation. As of May 2, 2010, PG&E has given 34.5 million dollars to the campaign to pass Prop 16.

Join the 'No on Prop 16!' effort.
Don't forget to vote NO on Prop 16 on June 8.
