Urgent Health Reform Action
Dear Pam Salvatierra,
***URGENT HEALTH REFORM ACTION***
The private health insurance industry and their Republican lackeys are publicly gloating because they think that the recent change in the makeup of the Senate has supposedly "killed" our determined efforts to bring about monumental change to our country's broken health care system.
There's no denying that we've experienced our fair share of setbacks in this momentous campaign. And now without the 60th vote in the Senate to break the Republican filibusters, the only path to comprehensive health reform is through reconciliation. And while the Senate bill is definitely a step above the status quo, it's still seriously flawed and needs to be fixed before it can pass in the House. In order to rectify this, the Senate needs to agree to a corrections bill with the House and then pass it under reconciliation rules.
And that's precisely why we're making one last big push to make sure that health reform is finished right this year!
On February 17th, Health Care for America Now and our partners are kicking off the "40 Days to Health Reform" campaign - a national day of action to demonstrate mass public support for finishing health care reform by the Easter holiday. using the two-step process involving the Senate's version of the health reform bill in "Reconciliation."

No matter what opponents say or do - we've got to make it clear we're not going away. Not only are millions of lives on the line - but the entire progressive agenda for 2010. That's why it's important that we stand together and let our Members of Congress - champions and otherwise - know that we're counting on them to finish reform right.
And while there's still a lot of work to be done in reconciliation to make sure the Senate bill is improved, California, more than anywhere else, can't wait any longer for health reform. If Massachusetts was the state with the least to gain from health reform - then California is the state with the most to gain. If we don't pass reform now, the swelling ranks of the uninsured living in our state will continue to grow at an unprecedented rate.
So join us and help get the word out for the kick-off of the "40 Days to Health Reform" campaign on February 17th in Los Angeles and San Francisco. Click here for more info NOW.
Together, we will make a difference in the lives of millions.
Brian
