Energy/Environment Group Meeting

Time:
03/18/2010 - 7:30pm - 9:00pm
Address:
1140 Cowper Street, Palo Alto, Classroom 1

Please come and join us for 2 stimulating talks.
Flavia Franco will talk about a support group she is forming to 'curb our energy appetite'.   This talk presents a strategy and support for making personal changes in three areas: electricity usage, transportation, and consumption.   The strategy utilizes the methods that a group of local university researchers found to be the most effective ways to help people change habits.
Dr Alex Cannara will give a talk on Energy Basics.  What we should know to help ourselves, our towns & our families.  What we must know to choose products, companies and jobs that last.
Flavia and Alex are both passionate activists who want to show us how to make a dent in reversing the global warming trend.  One by one, step by step, we'll get there.  We hope you can come and take these steps with us.

Google and the Pope

You make me laugh, very well put! See you there on Wednesday, and your PDF is very comprehensive.

I hope we get a chance to talk about Thorium. Looks like there may be some traction soon with Federal Funding for such projects.

Thorium power

There's a free conference at Google HQ the end of this month...

The Senate bill is primarily aimed at solid fuels based on Thorium & Uranium, which is not the best, safest or most economical choice.  The real deal is the Thorium Fluoride, molten-salt reactor, as designed & operated for 4 years in the '60s for the DoD atomic plane project...

We need the Senate bill amended to add the above:  http://tinyurl.com/ye27k98

Parking etc..

The site according to Google maps is still under construction. Is the area finished. I was there consulting last year and this area was all torn up. Do we have to go through a special entrance to the building or is the entire site finished?

Y2E2 bldg @Stanford

Was finished two years ago.  Google is as fallible as the Pope. ;]
The buildings adjacent are indeed being finished & are unoccupied.

Enegy Basics

Attached is the current draft of a presentation for anyone on what we all should know about energy

discussed Wed 3/3 at 6pm at Stanford's Yang-Yamaguchi bldg. Rm 326, and is open to all.

Dear Dr. Cannara,   Did you

Dear Dr. Cannara,

Did you mean 3/23/2010? Is there public parking nearby? Is there anyone else who would like to carpool to minimize the number of cars?

Energy mtg.

Yes, I think, despite the original msg being for Feb, we'll likely reconvene next Wed at about 5pm
at Rm 326 in the Y2E2 bldg at Stanford.  Parking is exhorbitant until 4, then free!
